Question Would You Be Offended?

I mentioned before that a friend and I started an Etsy shop called The Periwinkle Piggy. It's been going pretty well...she's getting a lot of online sales and I've gotten a lot of custom orders through FB. We have a FB page and an Etsy.

While it seems to be going well, it seems to not be, also. At first I was really concerned because her Etsy prices are super low. Nothing over $10...most things under $5. While my car seat covers run $30+. I let it go because we were making very different things and she said she was going to raise her prices after we were "established."

Well, after being away for a week (we just moved so no internet access) I got on FB tonight and she's opened another "shop" on there...selling car seat covers. I feel like she slapped me. That's been my side of the market...I somewhat specialized in that while she did diaper carriers, burp cloths, bibs, sleep sacks, nursing covers, etc. Why does she have to do the one thing I've been doing, too? I know I sound like I'm whining but I'm hurt. It wouldn't be so bad if we'd talked about it and were going to both do the same things and sell them under the same shop but for her to open a new one and have that same item over there really seems underhanded. It's direct competition.

Am I nuts? Am I missing something or do I have a right to feel hurt by this?

I would have been upset to. She was making other things and then started to make the same thing you specialized in. It's like she's now competing against you and that's a bit low. If anything she should have talked to you about it first.

You should be upset.... I have a group of friends that also make jewelry to sell and everytime they would see anything new I would make they would also make to sell . That would upset me because it was my own idea. I f they would just make it for there own use then it would be o.k but we would sell them in the same place. So now I don't let then see my items till the day of the craft show.

I think we got it all straightened out...or at the very least I've let it go and moved on. Thanks for telling me I wasn't nuts, lol.
